Trash is where admins view all files and folders deleted from the data room. Once files/folders are deleted, they are no longer accessible and are excluded from analytics. They can however be "recovered" from Trash and restored to their previous location (with a caveat, see below).

Who can access Trash?

Trash is only accessible to data room admins and users with the Manage Users & Settings permission enabled.

How do you access Trash?

  1. Log into your your Deal Manager Portal
  2. In the My Data Rooms table, hover over the applicable data room and click the Settings ⚙ icon.
  3. Within Settings, from the left-hand menu, select Trash
  4. Alternatively, you can go to the Manage Users & Settings tab and access Trash from there

How do you recover files from Trash?

To recover files from Trash, select the files/folders you wish to restore and click the Restore button. This will move files/folders back to their original location.

The parent folder of the files/folders you’re trying to recover must still be present in the data room, otherwise the process will fail.

How do you empty (permanently delete) Trash?

To empty Trash, select the files/folders you wish to permanently delete and press the trash icon. Note that files in the Trash do not count towards the data room's total file storage.

Deleting items from Trash is permanent and cannot be undone!
