Uploading Files & Folders
Once you have created your Data Room, you may now upload files to the room or create folders to organize your room.
Who can add files & folders to the data room?
Admins, Managers, and Users with the "Manage Users & Settings" permission enabled will be able to Upload or Delete files and folders to the data room.
How do you add files & folders to the data room?
In a Data Room, you can upload files using the Upload button or by dragging and dropping the files into the Data Room. You can create folders by clicking the Create Folder icon next to the Upload button to organize your files, or you can simple drag and drop a folder from your personal device into the Data Room.
Uploading files using the Upload button
- Login to your Data Room on the desired platform (DealVDR, 17g5, InvestorSet)
- Once inside the Data Room, navigate to the folder where you would like to upload your files.
- Select the Upload button and press select files
- Select the files you wish you to upload form your personal device directory and press Upload
You may also upload files by dragging and dropping.
Dragging and Dropping
- Login to your Data Room on the desired platform (DealVDR, 17g5, InvestorSet)
- Once inside the Data Room, navigate to the folder where you would like to upload your files.
- From here, simply drag and drop files or folders from your personal device into the Data Room. This will open the Upload modal with list of files and folders to upload.
- Press Upload to upload files or folders
Creating and Uploading Folder(s)
- To create a folder, you can either click the Create Folder icon next to the Upload button or right-click in the Data Room and select Create Folder
- Type in the name of your new folder (or folders if you press Add one more)
- Press Create
Alternatively, you may upload folders from your personal device by simply dragging and dropping a folder into the Data Room. Note that you cannot upload folders from your device using the Upload button, but you can drag and drop folders into the Data Room.
Uploading files/folders using Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP)
Another method to upload files or folders to the Data Room is to use a Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) software such as FileZilla, CyberDuck, or WinSCP (Microsoft Windows only).
- As an Admin or User with Manage Users & Settings permissions, go to Settings
- Scroll down to Advanced Settings and look at SFTP Access information
- Enter the SFTP connection information into your SFTP software to establish a connection.
- Once a connection is established, you may upload files through the software into the Data Room.

Why am I unable to upload files or folders to my Data Room?
If you are unable to upload files or folders into the Data Room, you may be encountering one of these errors:
- Unsupported file type such as executable files. These will be raised in the Errors tab in the Upload window.
- Large file upload size. If you are uploading many files at once (or many files with a large size), you may be logged out of the Data Room due to a timeout error if there is a long upload time.
